In Their Own Words

A few questions with the practitioners behind Golden Wellness House.

What you love to learn about:

I'm really drawn to learning about ancient systems of medicine—Ayurveda in particular. The wisdom in these traditions is pretty incredible. They've stood the test of time for a reason. Ayurveda teaches us how to live in sync with nature, rather than working against it, and that alignment can bring balance to every area of life. It also helps you tune into your body in a way that's subtle but powerful—listening to those quiet signals before they become something louder. I love how it reminds us that prevention doesn't have to be complicated; often, it's the simplest shifts that make the biggest impact.

#1 thing you most frequently help people with:

The thing I help people with most often is digestion. That's usually what brings them in initially, but once we sit down, they see that there's a lot more in the toolbox than just food. Digestive issues often have deeper roots—emotional, energetic, or lifestyle-related. Whether we're using Ayurvedic principles (which is really the original diet and lifestyle medicine), food intolerance testing, or biomagnetism, there's always a way to bring the body back into balance. Even something as simple as understanding your personal digestion type—whether it's sluggish, irregular, or too fast—can shift everything. It's about helping people reconnect with how their unique body actually works.

Professional hot take that would surprise someone:

One thing that tends to surprise people is that I don't often recommend salads as a go-to health food. In the West, salads are praised as the ultimate "healthy choice," but from an Ayurvedic perspective, it's not that simple. Everything in Ayurveda depends on the person, the season, and their digestive strength. Raw veggies are cold, dry, and rough—qualities that can aggravate Vata dosha, which is already sensitive to bloating, gas, and irregular digestion.

It's not that salads are bad, but they're not right for everyone all the time. Digestion isn't just about what you eat, but what your body can actually break down and absorb. For many people, raw foods are harder to digest—especially in cooler months. So just like we swap out our wardrobes for fall and winter, it's a good idea to do the same with our food. In most cases, cooked, warm meals are more supportive for digestion during those times.

What you love to learn about:

I will preface by saying that my practice demographic is very close to being 50/50 men and women. However, I do have a passion for learning about women's health. Historically, women's health has been misunderstood and ill-informed largely due to the lack of research with defined men's and women's control groups. Well not shockingly, it turns out we are fairly different! From the way we metabolize drugs, to how we present during heart attacks, even down to our brain morphology. I'm always excited when the science gifts us new insights or more often, confirms what women have been screaming for decades when previously we were shut down.

The #1 thing you most frequently help people with:

This one is a bit of a tie. I have found that most people find chiropractic care out of necessity, having some kind of musculoskeletal complaint related to their back or neck. So, I help a lot with those things! But what I really help most with is dealing with the layers of complexity that cause that pain. Getting the pain to subside is only the first step in deeper healing, finding the other tangential issues, roots, and cofactors are my real talents. I also help a lot with my pregnant patients, particularly those who have babies that aren't positioned well. Helping moms avoid ECVs and c-sections has been one of the most gratifying experiences of my career.

What's a professional hot take that would surprise someone:

Probably that I don't typically recommend care plans that require patients to come in 2-3x a week in the beginning of their care. While intensive treatment plans have their place in certain scenarios, I find that my ability to spend more time in appointments with patients allows me to get the same results in fewer treatments. When you apply soft tissue work, stretches, and home care exercises tailored to that person's needs you can be equally if not more successful.

Things I love learning about:

Ways to incorporate stretching to increase range of motion into my treatments

What do you most frequently help people with:

I mostly treat neck and shoulder pain, tightness, and trigger points.

What is your professional Hot Take:

The "no pain, no gain" approach is misguided. Many people believe that if a deep tissue massage isn't painful, it isn't working. However, pain triggers the sympathetic nervous system's "fight or flight" response, causing the muscles to contract and brace against the pressure. This directly defeats the purpose of the massage, which is to encourage the muscles to release tension.
